About
Us
Raintree
Irrigation &
Outdoor Systems
|
We have been in business since 1987. Our business operates
out of
an office and has an address (not
just a phone number),
where you can find us. During office hours, you will be
greeted
by a courteous staff member. Our voice mail system is used
only
after the office closes.
We carry $5,000,000.00 liability and property
insurance. As a responsible employer, we encourage safety and
have developed a health and safety program with the Workplace Safety
Insurance Board.
Raintree is one of a few contractors in Ontario who
have been granted the Select Contractor status by the manufacturer
Rainbird (one
of the worlds leading
irrigation manufacturers for over 60 years).
Only experienced and superior contractors are chosen as Rain Bird
Selected Contractors. We value and honour this designation
from
Rainbird.
Our employees undergo various training courses
offered by the Irrigation Association (USA), Landscape Ontario,
manufacturers, distributors and in house on all aspects of irrigation
and customer service.
Our current staff holds the following Irrigation Association
designations
3
Certified Irrigation Contractors
4 Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditors.
8 Certified Irrigation Technicians
By Landscape Ontario – Irrigation Commodity Group.
Through proper design, scheduling and the use of
rain sensors, we encourage the efficient use of water.
Reduced
water consumption results in lower operating costs.
We have the latest in diagnostic equipment to resolve service problems.
We use 18-gauge direct burial wire - many irrigation
companies use 20-gauge wire that creates problems after a few years of
use. We use waterproof connectors on all underground
electrical
connections to prevent corrosion.
Wiring from the controller is protected with PVC conduit until it is
safely buried in the soil.
We protect wire in flower and shrub beds to prevent cutting by
cultivation.
All exposed plumbing material is copper. We
use insulation over any internal copper piping to prevent
sweating. We include a backflow preventer (required by the
Ontario Building Code) on all our installations.
We install an isolation valve where the water exits
the house or building. The purpose of this is so that the water can be
turned off in an emergency or during service work, thus, eliminating
the need for anyone to be home or present during the service work.
We install heads on swing pipe - WHY?
- Enables
sprinkler heads to be installed at the right
height
- Heavy vehicles
can go over the heads without causing
damage to the fittings and pipe
“Hi Pops” versus “Risers”: Hi
pop sprinklers
have an
aesthetic value (pleasing to the landscape) because they are buried in
the ground or are hidden within shrubs and are therefore not exposed.
Risers are installed above shrubs or flowers and are visible, making
the landscape less attractive.
We use only professional grade controllers, valves
and sprinkler heads. These products are more reliable and
longer
lasting.
Our polyethylene pipe is rated at 100 PSI and carries a minimum
warranty of 25 years.
We use only premium fittings. These have more
ridged barbs, therefore not allowing the pipe to slip off under high
water pressure. We use all “stainless
steel” clamps,
versus
stainless bands with carbon steel screws used by some
competitors. Carbon steel screws rust after a few years
allowing
fittings to come apart. We use PVC nipples to attach
sprinkler
heads underground. Some of our competitors use “cut
off” nipples,
which have a softer thread and break easier. When fittings or
heads separate from the pipe, leaks occur causing damage to the
surrounding landscape, waste of water and possible foundation damage.
